We are all different and deserving of support.

F. A. Q.s

How do I know that you are the right therapist for me?

We offer a free 15-minute consultation over the phone to discuss your needs and ensure our support will be of help to you.

How does individual therapy work?

You will first be asked to fill out some information forms to help guide the sessions and inform us of your current concerns. When we meet, you will be asked to share your feelings and some of your history with us. A treatment plan will be discussed, and you can let us know what direction you would like to work in to make a change. Using an eclectic variety of skills we have been trained in over the years, we will create goals and work towards helping you feel better in your life.

How do I make an appointment?

Contact us using the information in the link below, and we will return your message within 24 hours on business days (Monday to Friday).

You can also email us both at:

Sylvie Smith: ssmith@phoenixrisingpsychotherapy.com

or

Carla Jordan: cjordan@phoenixrisingpsychotherapy.com

What are your hours?

Our hours are typically:

  • Weeknights from 6:00 to 9:00 PM.

  • Sundays from 9 AM to 12 PM.

How long are the sessions?

Sessions are 50 minutes in length.

Do you offer in-person or virtual appointments?

Currently, appointments are virtual from the comfort of your home and are held over the PHIPA safe video telemedicine platform Doxy.me.

What are your fees?

Sessions are $140 an hour. Payments can be made through e-transfer and are required at the end of each counselling session.

Are your services covered by insurance?

As Registered Psychotherapists, some insurance companies will cover services. To know for sure, we encourage you to call and ask if your private insurance covers “Registered Psychotherapy.” At the end of the session, receipts are provided by email and can be kept for income tax purposes, as psychotherapy can be claimed as a medical expense.

What if I need to miss a session?

Cancellations must be made 24 hours before your scheduled appointment. For non-attended appointments or those cancelled with less than 24 hours notice (except for illness), 50% of the missed appointment fee will be charged.
